Remembering HypnoDommes: Soforia The Enchantress

  • December 26, 2018 10:44 AM PST

Inspired by JT Meyer's recent musings on HypnoDommes who are no longer or less active, I thought I'd do a post on Soforia.

Way back in the dark ages of 1997, I didn't know about Erotic Hypnosis. It wasn't even a concept for me: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linguistic_relativity

But I knew I was looking for something. I typed variations of "mistress" and "control" into AOL's old search engine and stumbled upon "The Hypnotic Silken Web of Soforia the Enchantress". My heart pounded as I devoured every word on Her website. I knew this was what I was looking for.

In those old days, I had to mail Her a check. I waited a couple of agonizing weeks before I received a tape cassette https://twitter.com/Hypnotessa/status/803481510938484736   with Her Basic Induction on one side and a personal trance on the other and instructions for scheduling a phone session.

Late one Friday evening in December about 11:00pm East Coast Time I called a number on the 949 area code and She answered with a delightful laugh.

I was already hooked before She snapped her fingers and told me to close my eyes.

    What a mind-altering, life-altering experience. I was quickly addicted.

Always thought it was appropriate that in Her day job, She worked as a "compliance officer" for a stock brokerage.

Those were the wild early days of Erotic Hypnosis and Soforia would test the limits of Her subjects and Her skills. Admiring subs sent Her laptops and World Series Tickets (She was an Angels fan). She'd explore Her power making one sub eat dog biscuits; he thought nothing of it as if it were another snack. A more devious suggestion would lead result in forced masturbation whenever the sub thought Her control over him was weakening.

Once curious caller who wanted to know "more about hypnosis" ended up paying the rent on Her office (She was also a Clinical Hypnotherapist) for several months.

The highlight of her power would probably be the GQ Erotic Hypnosis Article from 2003 where She hypnotized the reporter over dinner and lead him back to his hotel room, compelling him to reveal his notes from interviews with other HypnoDommes.

I was lucky enough to be allowed to assist with Her website (along with JustCurious38 from the Netherlands). She inspired me to write my first erotic hypnosis stories that She graciously posted.

Unfortunately, She was taken way too early from us. But as one of the pioneers of Erotic Hypnosis, She blazed the way for a generation of HypnoDommes.

Everyone: HypnoDommes, HypnoSubs, HypnoEnthusiats owe Her a great debt.

After the great Soforia left us, one of her slaves, Pet James from Pa. has control of her catalogue and continued (continues) to sell her files, without mentioning she had passed away.

This increasingly distasteful, especially since some of her files included suggestions of personal submission to her.

That's a pretty serious accusation. Do you have any evidence to back up your claim?

OK, well it seems every site that used to sell her products has closed. (YEA) I complained a lot. Niteflirt no longer has her goodies, although strangely still has her profile with requests to talk to her "live"

Her site has finally closed down also so the only location left is LastFM with had her tracks for sale But not any longer.

I remember Soforia as one of the earliest examples of a real-life female hypnotist I'd seen anywhere, on or offline. Reading her site, her insights and skills, it was easy to see why she was so beloved in her time, and even after her passing today.

Many of the stories written about her seemed very plausible, no matter how farfetched the detail. That reinforced the idea of her hypnosis, and erotic hypnosis in-general, the compelling force it remains to be today. I'm very glad she was one of the pioneers of this fascination and community.

    Great piece here!

When she died, I remember on her site it being stated that her files would stay up for sale, that there was some talk about a woman following in her footsteps, and that one of her followers would take over operations.

I'm not sure what the timeline was for when that was posted, but it seemed pretty immediate and everything seemed to be transparent and done in good faith.

But then again, I don't recall exactly when she passed, I want to say it was over ten years ago, and that's a very long time for the loose oral history that is our scene.

I think the same of her successor was Safarina the Enchantress, if I remember correctly. Can't remember anything coming of the succession though.

Yeah, that was the name, thank you! And no, nothing came of it, but what could have?

I think, like a lot of people, I've ended up with copies of her work and it seems like a no harm no foul situation if they were made publicly available.

I feel like Milo probably has the clearest eyes on this thought.

No, they were never made publicly available. As I posted, Pa Pet James had control of her catalogue, and Niteflirt account and sold her work, long after she passed. I took real exception to this, and found it distasteful considering many of her files included suggestions of personal slavery to her ( Soforia )

One non sexual file was on youtube, but was taken down. One last video of her is on youtube published 3 months before she passed is Soforia doing a Uri Geller trick of bending a spoon.

I am under the impression, but could be wrong, that Sarafina was Soforia's daughter.

Is there any evidence at all that James (or anyone else) was selling copies of Her recordings? Because I don't remember that and I would think that would have been something that I would have been aware of.

I remember Soforia, although I never spoke with her.  She was the first hypnodomme to fascinate me, and I believe I have managed to keep the files I purchased through the years and hard drives.  I also remember the announcement on her site that she had passed, with a stated intent to keep it open in her memory.  I used to go back there now and then and wish I had had the chance to speak with her.  I *think* I remember files remaining for sale as well?  I'm not as confident about that as I am about returning to her site, but ISTR the files remaining on offer for a little while as well.

Unfortunately, all this about James is new to me, as is he.  I was the new guy back then and not terribly social about erotic hypnosis.

Yes. As I said Pa pet James ran her site after she died and sold here files both there and other places like niteflirt. I felt strongly about this as many of her files dealt with personal severtude to her when she was with us no more.

You keep on claiming that James ran her site and sold her files, but you haven't provided anything at all to back that up when asked to do so. Have you even considered the possibility that you might be wrong? Accusations are easy to make, and you're doing a great job at tarnishing James' reputation...

Tenker: You seem to be under the assumption I need to prove something to you.

Janet Macy died of cancer in 2007. If you want to check the internet way-back machine you can find her former website sorforia.com selling her files into 2010. And the announcement by James that the site and files will still be sold "in her memory"

I could find posts where I (and others) complained to Maurice about sales of her files on the previous version of inraptured.

And as I said previously Niteflirt no longer has her files for sale but still has her for phone sex and for 1.99 a minute you to can listen to her for about 16 minutes.

( At least one review is still posted dated 2008)

Sorry, but this is all crap.

Thanks to tenker for defending me.

I never ran Soforia's site, or sold Her MP3s. While She was alive I did assist in maintaining the website along with Just Curious38.

After Soforia passed, I no longer assisted with the website. I did not have access to Her files (other than the tapes and CDs, I bought from Her). The website continued to be operated by (I believe) Sarafna and Just Curious, although my memory of that could be wrong.

I did relay the information that Soforia's MP3s would continued to be offered, but I wasn't the one doing the selling and in no way did I benefit from the sales.

    Balls:

Again all you can do is check the way-back machine to see the internet archive. The "offering" of her files was offered by someone who was an admin on the site.

Files continued to be sold for profit long after she died. New places to sell sprang up after she had died.

PaPetjames name has since been scrubbed from the net. An instant new sign up named James? Yeah, right. Sorry but that is crap.

    Let's try again:

    • No one is claiming the files weren't sold on her site.
    • No one is claiming that James didn't assist with her website when she was active.
    • No one is claiming that James didn't announce that the files would be continued to be offered.

But is it really that hard to:

    • Entertain the idea that others might have been involved?
    • Believe James when he says he did not do the selling?

As for James signing up now:

    • People in this community tend to come and go, often using different nicknames, as I suspect you are well aware of.
    • I mean: Greg Sneakel first signing up in November 2017, yet obviously being a long time veteran of the community?

There was one major blot on Soforia's record: she once told a subject, under hypnosis, to send a file from a rival hypnodomme. I remained friendly with her afterwards, but no longer trusted her.
